Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have today parted company by mutual consent.

All at Chelsea thank Jose for his immense contribution since he returned as manager in the summer of 2013.

His three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history. But both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.

The club wishes to make clear Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure at Chelsea. His legacy at Stamford Bridge and in England has long been guaranteed and he will always be warmly welcomed back to Stamford Bridge.

The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential.

There will be no further comment until a new appointment is made.

BREAKING: Chelsea submit planning application for a new 60,000 capacity stadium at Stamford Bridge.

According to Chelsea official website, a planning application of a new stadium at Stamford Bridge with an expanded seating capacity has been submitted.

This application will now be examined by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.

Here are the main details of the application:

- Stadium seating capacity to expand from 41,600 to 60,000 spectators

- An outstanding view of the stadium from every seat

- An arena designed to create an exciting atmosphere

- Direct access to and from Fulham Broadway Station, making travel more efficient

Lionel Messi says Luis Suarez should be on Ballon d'Or shortlist

I thought i was the only one who thinks so.........

Suarez was the only member of Barcelona's famed 'MSN' to fail to make the final shortlist for the award, which recognises the best player on the planet in the previous 12 months.

The Uruguay striker has scored 40 goals in the calendar year so far and starred in the champions’ league final.

The other nomination for the award, Cristiano Ronaldo, has a staggering 48 goals for club and country in the same period, but Real Madrid ultimately went trophyless and his form for the La Liga giants has been criticised in recent weeks.

Now Messi and Neymar have both suggested Suarez would have been a deserving entry for the Ballon d'Or, which is awarded in January.

Speaking at the La Liga awards, Messi said: "I'd have liked to be on the Ballon d'Or podium with Neymar and Luis. Luis deserved it, but Cristiano also did well. We'll have a good time."

Neymar added: "Being nominated for Ballon d'Or means a lot. Suarez should have been there too, but Messi is favourite, he's the number one for me."

Messi enjoyed another victory over his old rival Ronaldo after he was voted the top striker in the Spanish league last season.

It is the sixth time that the Argentinian has won the title in seven editions of the trophy given by the Spanish football league. Messi was selected following a computer analysis of the players' statistics in the championship.

"I'm proud to receive this award ahead of so many important players in La Liga," said Messi.

"This award in particular I want to dedicate to my son Thiago (aged 3) even if he still doesn't understand very well. Every time I leave the house he gets angry and asks me: 'Papa, are you going again to score goals?' This award is for him."

Messi also won the vote for the best striker following a poll of the captains of each of Spain's top flight sides.

Barcelona's Claudio Bravo was voted the best goalkeeper and Luis Enrique top coach while Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos and James Rodriguez were named best defender and midfielder respectively.

Valencia's Algerian midfielder Sofiane Feghouli was voted the top African player and Barcelona's Brazilian striker Neymar, the best player from the American continent.

Real Madrid's Portuguese star Ronaldo, who scored the most La Liga goals last season with 48, won the public's choice award.

Manchester City's owners have sold 13 per cent stake in the club

Manchester city owners have sold a 13 per cent stake in the club's parent company to Chinese investors.

The City Football Group (CFG), parent company of the two-time Premier League champions, has sold the stake to a consortium of CMC (China Media Capital) and investment company CITIC Capital.

The investment of $400million (£265million), which is subject to regulatory approval in some territories, follows six months of talks and is aimed at expanding CFG's interests in the Chinese football industry.

The deal sees new shares issued in CFG in addition to those owned by the Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG), the investment and Development Company privately owned by Sheikh Mansour of the Abu Dhabi royal family.

Prior to the investment ADUG was the sole shareholder of CFG which owns Manchester City, New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and is a minority shareholder in Yokohama F. Marinos.

CMC chairman Ruigang Li will represent the consortium at CFG by becoming its seventh board member.

Khaldoon Al Mubarak, chairman of CFG, said: "Football is the most loved, played and watched sport in the world and in China, the exponential growth pathway for the game is both unique and hugely exciting.

"We have therefore worked hard to find the right partners and to create the right deal structure to leverage the incredible potential that exists in China, both for CFG and for football at large."

Li said: "With its unique business model and distinct successes, City Football Group, whom we have come to know well, represents a differentiated systematic approach to building a global platform for football know-how, player development, academy programmes and commercial partnerships that will benefit China's football industry on multiple levels.

"We and our consortium partner CITIC Capital also see this investment as a prime opportunity for furthering the contribution of China to the global football family."

Wenger - Title race too close to call............

Arsène Wenger says the Premier League title race is too close to call.

With just over a third of the season gone, only four points separate the top five - with the Gunners in fourth place.

And Wenger refuses to count out champions Chelsea, despite their struggles this season.

“Mathematically you cannot rule them out - even the bottom teams are in it,” he said. “It is so difficult. It is so tight and I don’t even look at the league anymore because it is very, very tight.

“Last week we had a bad result against West Brom and so did Manchester City [against Liverpool] so it compacted the whole table.

“I believe it is a big opportunity for us but many teams can tell you that. We are in a position where you want to be after 13 games but there are 25 to go.

“If there’s five or six to go and we are in the race, of course [we are contenders]. I think we have a chance but it is very early. I know people always want to know what will happen in the future but let’s take care of the game on Sunday.”

Having lost at West Brom, Wenger is confident his side will bounce back in style at Norwich City on Sunday.

“It was a bad result - but on the day everything went against us,” he said. “They had one shot on target and scored two goals - that will not always happen.

“On top of that we missed a penalty and scored an own goal, so we had a nightmare. It was an unlucky day, that can happen in a season but after it is how you respond to that and we did that well on Tuesday

Manchester United suffered from a "serious lack of quality", according to Matt Le Tissier.

United's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League hang in the balance after a tepid affair at Old Trafford. The result leavs United in second place in Group B, just a point above PSV in third and facing a trip to first-place Wolfsburg in the final game. 

A win against the German side would see United finish top of the group but if PSV win at home to bottom side CSKA Moscow, a defeat or draw for United in Wolfsburg would see them drop out of the competition and into the Europa League. 

A win would have seen Louis van Gaal's side through on Wednesday night, but Le Tissier says United ran out of ideas in the second half, and was surprised Juan Mata was not brought on until the 85th minute.

He told Soccer Special: "The amount of chances they created, the amount of shots on target, they had more than PSV but there just seemed to be a serious lack of quality in terms of creating anything, certainly in the second half.

"The first half they weren't bad, they had spells there and created some chances but in the second half they just seemed to run out of ideas and looked like they ran out of energy at the end.

"Morgan Schneiderlin, who I like as a player, had one of his worst games in a United shirt; he gave the ball away more than I've ever seen him give the ball away.

"I was very surprised that Juan Mata was not brought on sooner than he was, six minutes from the end when he finally came on.

"You could see there wasn't a lot of creativity going on in that Man United midfield. You've got a player sat on the bench who's not the perfect player but the one thing he'll do is create things.

"It just amazed me that they went with the [Marouane] Fellaini option before Mata. I would have expected Mata to have come on after an hour or so."

Van Gaal's side were met with boos at the final whistle by the home crowd, with Jesse Lingard's miscued effort from inside the area with 17 minutes remaining the only clear-cut chance in the second half.

Le Tissier added: "United will look at the game and think they created the better of the chances and Jesse Lingard will probably be kicking himself tonight because he probably had the best chance of the whole football match in the second half.

"The United midfield just did not dominate the game like they should do at home against a team like PSV. You'd think they'd be able to impose themselves a little bit more on them.

"PSV looked fairly comfortable, certainly through that second half and as the second half wore on, they looked the more likely side to go on and win the game."
